Dress Code

(Including the Practice Grounds and Putting Green)

a) The rules are for the guidance of members and visitors and are intended to be open, understandable and workable and to be consistent with standards of dress considered acceptable at a modern-day Golf Club.

b) visitors, visiting societies, visiting teams and those participating in open competitions are required to comply with these rules. It is up to members to ensure that their individual guests are advised accordingly.

c) it is important that the dress of golfers on the course is presentable e.g.,

  • The most appropriate wear is that which has been designed specifically for golf. (e.g. polo shirts, tailored trousers and smart shorts.) •
  • Golf shoes must be worn. Any other type of shoe, including trainers, can be dangerous and/or cause damage to the course.
  • Socks of any colour and trainer liners are acceptable.
  • Unless specifically designed for golf, the wearing of collarless or sleeveless shirts is not appropriate.
  • (Exceptionally, ladies may wear round necked blouse/shirts with sleeves or sleeveless blouse/shirts with collars and are allowed to wear shirts or blouses outside skirts, shorts or trousers.)
  • Hats, caps and visors should be worn in the manner for which they were designed

d) If any doubt should exist, please refer to the General Manager, Professional or a member of the men’s or ladies’ committees.

Dress in the Clubhouse

a) Veranda/spike bar Subject to 4 (b) all attire, is acceptable but players are asked to remove excessively wet clothing.

b) Clubhouse lounge, dining room and 19th .

  • No golf shoes or wet clothing is permitted.
  • Hats should be removed indoors.
  • A good standard of dress and golf attire is encouraged.

For Club functions smart casual wear is acceptable and preferred, this includes presentable denim jeans (not ripped or distressed) and chinos but excludes workwear jeans and track suits. The Dress Code may vary depending on the function.

  • Shorts that adhere to the ‘on course’ code.
  • Trainers are permitted in the clubhouse and on the veranda.
  • In the clubhouse and veranda, gentlemen will be allowed to wear shirts designed for wear outside their trousers.

The Club shall not be liable for any loss or damage to any vehicle or its contents within the car park, nor for any property of members, visitors or guests using the Club’s facilities, unless proved negligent.
